(As of May 17, 2022)

The 2022 ride is taking place on June 10 and 11th and will be returning to its previous 2 day format! The Cycle Path's will be cycling from Toronto to Niagara Falls to raise critical funds for cancer research. In honour of Larry Cohen's 91st birthday, Steve Cohen has announced he will personally be donating $500 dollars to all new riders, as well as an additional $500 to the person who referred them. All funds will be directed to Dr. Irish's program, GTx-OR (guided therapeutics operating room) To ensure we track this correctly, please forward the names of the riders you have to sign up to Brianna (bwheeler@salitsteel.com)

A note from Steve Cohen:

A happy and healthy new year to you all.

As we reflect back on 2021, we all had hope and assumed that Covid and the restrictions would be behind us. One of life's many lessons is that you never know the future and that plans are meant to be changed.

I often get asked how I got involved in the Ride to Conquer Cancer and why I am so passionate about it. In 2007, I had 7 friends, relatives and/co-workers all with cancer at the same time. Thankfully, 15 years later, all 7 are not only here today but are leading healthy and active lives. 50 years ago, it would have been a much more bleak outcome. My list of heroes who have inspired me with their cancer battle has significantly grown since the first ride.

Please watch the video below to meet the 7 survivors.

Despite the amazing breakthroughs in research and new treatments, the worldwide annual death toll from cancer has risen 21% in the last 12 years. Within the same time frame, diagnosed cancer cases have also risen 26%. Although Covid is at the forefront of our daily lives, cancer has still been a leading cause of death and has resulted in 4x the number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

While I have my personal list of those who have been through the battle of a lifetime, I am sure all of you have been touched as well. Let their courage inspire you to sign up for this year's ride.

The 2022 ride is scheduled for June 11-12 and returning to its previous format. Although there is a lot of uncertainty at the moment, one thing we can promise you is that the Cycle Paths will ride and raise critical funds for cancer research. It may be a 1 and/or 2-day event starting in Niagara or Toronto but no matter what the event, we need you to join us even if you can only ride around the block. Registering now allows all of us to start our fundraising early and as we have demonstrated in the past, the early bird gets the worm (PMH benefits).

Please sign up now, following the link HERE. As always all are welcomed.

Looking forward to riding with you all in 2022

Thanks,

Steve

2020 News.

2020 Niagara Virtual Ride

We are happy to announce that we will be hosting a Niagara SCP team ride and lunch on August 29th.

We will be providing a central meeting point for our riders with two suggested routes around Niagara, 50km and 100km. A rest stop will be provided on the routes.

Lunch will be provided from 12-2pm after the virtual ride at Salit Steel in Niagara Falls.

June 14, 2019  Note From Steve Cohen:

I am humbled beyond words at what we together have created this year and over the past 12 years. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that we could have built this community that has raised the bar to such heights.

Together we have officially  raised 10 MILLION DOLLARS towards the fight in conquering cancer. As Dr. Irish said on Saturday night, the funds we've raised (with our sore butts) is making a real difference in outcomes.

I want to personally thank each and every one of you for doing your part in this transformational accomplishment. In the past 7 years alone, we averaged raising 1 Million dollars each year. No other team ( including the corporate big-shots) have raised half this much money. You should all be incredibly proud.

As cancer continues to impact each and every family, I know our fight is far from over.

before buzz of the weekend wears off we'd love you, and your network, to sign up for 2020.

To expedite the sign up process, if you were part of the team in 2019, all you have to do is let us know that you're in and we will take care of the rest. For new recruits please find the enclosed registration for 2020.

We're happy to announce that in 2020 we will be offering the executive route, exclusive to Steve's Cycle Paths. If you know of anyone who wants to do the ride but can't do the distance, we have  an option available for them.

You might as well sign up now and save us both the aggravation of me bugging the crap out of you in March.

Sincerely,

Steve

May 2nd note from Steve:

Hi Folks,

Being a procrastinator by nature,  I normally don't complain when when I am not the last person to do something, but in this case it's different.

It's time to give your fundraising efforts for the Ride to Conquer Cancer a shot in the arm.

Connect with everyone you know, send out emails, use social media, have a bake sale.

Do what it takes to get you to the $2,500 mark in the next couple of weeks.

The money that you are raising IS making a difference in the lives of people who are diagnosed with this devastating disease. We've heard the stories, some of us even have our own stories to tell. It's time to stop this. Every single dollar makes a difference.

Don't stop until you hit your goal, and then after that.. keep going, there is no limit.

I'm counting on you.

All the best, Steve
